This watch is designed by Yiran Qian. As you can see it hasn’t got a face (the center of a storm is always calm and quiet). The outer frame stands for the storm itself, that’s where the action is.

So how do you read the time? Well, just press the button on the all black outer frame and the time will lit up. The ultimate form of minimalism.

By the way, this watch is also a perfect solution for those people who are sensitive to metal parts.

The equation watch

Also called the watch for geeks.

You need to do the math to figure out what time it is. The answers to the equations on the dial match the usual hour digits. This model shows you that an extraordinary watch doesn’t have to be expensive. There are different models available, starting from $20,00.

The time traveler

Telling the time in different regions by using specific landmark buildings.

At first glance, it looks like the face of the watch just shows a graphic image. Upon closer look, you will see there’s more to it. It shows the details of each individual significant building in the various regions around the world, like London, Paris and New York.

So how do you read the local time?

When in London, check out Big Ben. In New York, the Statue of Liberty will show you.  Subtle detail: the small red pigeon (present in every major city) marks the minutes.

On this watch you can’t only look at the time, you can actually feel it.

The markers on the dial are raised. Two balls travel around in separate tracks: one for the minute, one for the hour.

It is designed for touch and therefore perfect for people who have a vision impairment. But it also does the trick when you’re in a dark theatre or just want to check time discretely while in a meeting.

The Midnight Poetic Wish Timepiece

Designed by Van Cleef & Arpels,

Jewelers, painters and sculptors have put hundreds of hours of work in to create just one watch. Hence the price of over $230.000,00.

How to read the time? The hour is represented by the young man. He’s on the terraces of the Notre-Dame Cathedral (Paris) and steps slowly towards the center of the watch. In the meantime, a cloud (mother of pearl) moves horizontally towards him. When they meet, the bells of the cathedral ring to strike the hour. A shooting diamond star from behind the cloud indicates the minutes.
